Private label and resell rights products like ebooks and software are a great way to make money online. You keep selling the same product over and over without giving any recurring royalties to the author. You get everything - the product, the sales page, graphics, etc; all you have to do is host the pages somewhere, set up your payment processor to accept payments online, set the thank you page to appear after successful payment, drive traffic to your web pages, and collect the money on auto pilot! Easy, right? Wrong!
While it does seem easy, it is easier said than done. The reason is, there are many competitors that you need to compete with, so that you can sell more than them. While your success will be directly related to the price at which you sell and the traffic you generate, there are many other ways to make money with resell rights products. Some of them are bundling products, giving bonuses, etc. Unfortunately, competition is fierce and there is no standard in the industry. I’ve seen folks selling a $37 ebook at list price and I’ve also seen it being offered along with a zillion other products for under $10. The primary reason for this price war is – there isn’t really any cost in selling digital products. You pay a percentage to your payment processor and a bit for bandwidth. With hosting now available at peanuts, bandwidth is hardly a cost. So how do you stand apart from your competition, get your price without participating in a cut throat price war, and still manage to sell?
The answer is – smart SEO and copywriting. While I’m not about to teach you search engine optimization or copywriting skills (I do that in some of my other articles), what I mean is – change the sales page altogether! “Why should I bother to change a tried and tested successful sales page?” you may ask. While I understand that it is not an easy task, I would certainly recommend you to do it. This is because everyone will be using the same sales page and search engines hate duplicate content. So when you change the sales page, they will rank you higher for that product! I recommend that you keep all the ideas, the flow of the page, etc, intact. Change the wordings of the page as much as you can. Add a bit of your own, add some more testimonials, etc. Most digital products that come with resell rights and sales pages allow the seller to modify the page, so you shouldn’t have a problem with that. Check the license terms first before you do anything.
If you have PLR (private label rights) products, I would recommend you to drop the original graphics altogether. Then get a good graphics designer to design them, change the name of the product, change the sales page, etc. Once you do major modifications (including to the product itself), you can then sell it with your own copyright information and stand apart from the competition.
This one tip can double, triple or quadruple your sales. Or it can do much much more than that. I am a living example to have had success using this tip. So why am I giving this tip for free? Am I not afraid to make you my competitor? First of all, I am sharing this little secret of mine because this has helped me make a lot of money and I just felt like giving back. Secondly, I know that over 95% of the folks who are already selling resell rights products who also read this article are not going to take the effort to do it. Humans are generally lazy and they don’t want to work hard if they don’t think it is required. I myself was like that and even today I feel like putting up the ready made pages, but I force myself to come out of my comfort zone. If you’re one of the fortunate 5% who will understand the potential of this tip, you will at least give it a shot by working on one of your sales pages. Trust me; you will work on all of them once the results show up on your bottom line!
